This bell and pagoda structure was donated in 1976 to the people of Los Angeles by the people of the Republic of Korea to celebrate the bicentennial of the U.S. independence, honor veterans of the Korean War, and to consolidate traditional friendship between the two countries. Located in San Pedro, California.

Every visitor has to come in this place, in Mansu hill, make one minute silent, and put flowers (3 euros) in front of the giant bronze statue. The Guide said: first explanation, then pictures... Pyongyang North Korea

He was also the General Secretary of the Workers Party of Korea .He is resignated in the constitution as the country's Eternal President. You can see his face everywhere in the country.
It would be interesting to see the photo album of a north korean family, they might have a lot of pix like this in many places.
......seems to say this man to his child. North Korea is the most militarised country in the world. According to the US State Department, North Korea has the 4th largest military in the world, at an estimated 1.2 million armed personnel for 23 millions north koreans. Many think NK has nuclear bomb, the guns, cars, military equipment.
Namdaemun gate or Sungnyemun gate, one of the last gates of the former wall of early Seoul, burned on Monday night. Tragically so because it was one of the very few remaining wooden structures in Korea that had not been destroyed during the Korean War. The gate was over 610 years old, of course refurbished recently but old. Just a few short months ago the gate had been re-opened to allow people to pass through it. And the changing of the guard ceremony had been reinstated within the last few years as well, a great favorite with locals and tourists. A large wreath has been placed outside the newly erected fence and people are making pilgrimages to it to take photos and expressed their grief. There are also many complaints about the fence and how it keeps people from seeing the destroyed gate. President-Elect Lee has proposed opening a fund so that people can contribute to the reconstruction of the gate. The gate will be reconstructed with city/state funds but he feels that people will feel even more a part of the process if they donate funds. He's probably right but on the other hand some Koreans are saying it's his fault because as Mayor of Seoul, he's the one who opened the gate so people could walk through it. can't win for trying.
A banner strung across Namdaemun, or the Great South Gate, welcomes sailors from the USS Boxer to Seoul on April 7, 1950, about two months before the start of the Korean War. The ship had stopped near Seoul for a three-day visit, and one of the ship's photographers shot the photograph. The U.S. Navy attache at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul found the photo after a fire destroyed Namdaemun in February.
In Seoul, Korea, over sixty thousand people took to the streets in a candle light rally against U.S. beef imports that many were worrying might be infected with mad cow disease. As time went by, the number of protesters who held candles increased and they raised their voices. The target of this demonstration was the President of South Korea, Myung-bak Lee, who promoted the unacceptable deal against the will of all Koreans. He should have dealt with this matter after asking the people¡¯s thoughts.
Before midnight, police claimed that over 100,000 people participated in the largest candlelight rally yet over the impending resumption of U.S. beef imports, while organizers claimed that 700,000 people attended. U.S. beef import ignited the candlelights but now disapointments, anti-US, misunderstandings are buring the candle. Most of all, S.Koreans have achieved the democrocy through their active, sometimes violent, protests over dictators.
Event dance of union members during the strike. This photo is the status of Allianz Life Korea Strike. Allianz Life Korea is on strike for 148 days. German multinational group, Allianz Korea reduced its employees rather than creating employments and did tax evasion to maximize the profit of shareholders by disregarding for its social responsibilities and ethics. Is this understandable?
For 62 years since the end of World War II, the hereditary dictatorship in North Korea of Kim Il-sung and Kim jong-il, Father and Son, ruled 23 million North Koreans in fear and let several millions of them starve to deaths. South Korean government and its people are responsible for this as well as the United Nations. While millions of them perished in hunger, they looked away from this tragedy. Far too manypeople have been murderd for too many years. It is time now to get rid of the dictator in North Korea. I want to appeal to the conscience of the world to free North Koreans and to help establish peace and freedom in this world. I am demonstrating in front of the United Nations to dispose Kim, Jong-il¡¯s regime in North Korea. I need your help and support. April 28, 2007. Park, chan-do of Toronto, canada
